You read that right! Rock legends and Metal pioneers Black Sabbath have announced on their website that they are to release a new album with the original lineup (Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler) minus drummer Bill Ward, who left the band upon not reaching a contract agreement with the rest of the band. Replacing him in sessions is accomplished drummer Brad Wilk of Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave. Recording was primarily done in Los Angeles.
The upcoming album is entitled 13, and is set to be released sometime in June this year. Producing this album is seven-time Grammy winner Rick Rubin. Rubin has produced countless legendary and hard-hitting albums with the likes of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jay-Z, Audioslave, Adele and many, many more. 13 will be released on Vertigo Records, and will be the first Sabbath record with the original lineup since 1978's Never Say Die!
Prior to the release, Sabbath are playing shows in New Zealand, Australia and Japan in support of the new album.
